Models

Choose a model and connect your Claude or ChatGPT subscription.

Send exactly one claude_code or codex block to choose Claude Code or Codex, and set its model:

1
{
2
"claude_code": {
3
"model": "claude-opus-5-5",
4
"prompt": "Find and fix the failing test."
5
}

Claude Code also accepts claude-fable, claude-opus, claude-sonnet, and claude-haiku for the newest model in each family. See Pricing for token prices.

GET /v1/account/models returns the same list with each model's features. A session that asks for a feature its model doesn't support fails with unsupported_session_combination before it starts.

Every session names its model. In the CLI, el model use claude-opus-5-5 sets the model a bare el "..." runs on when --model is absent.

Use your subscription

Without a subscription, model usage is paid from your Ellipsis credits. To use your own Claude or ChatGPT plan instead:

  1. Open Models > Subscriptions and choose Add subscription.
  2. Pick the provider and paste its credential:
    • Claude: the token printed by claude setup-token. API keys aren't accepted.
    • Codex: the contents of ~/.codex/auth.json after running codex -c cli_auth_credentials_store="file" login and signing in with ChatGPT. Treat this file as a password.
  3. Choose Save & verify.

A Claude subscription pays for Claude models, and a Codex subscription pays for GPT models. GLM-5.2 and MiniMax M3 always use credits. A subscription belongs to the person who added it; see Pricing for which sessions it covers. A session uses credits if, when it starts, your subscription isn't verified or your Codex login can't be refreshed. After a session starts, a failed subscription request fails the session instead of switching to credits.
